Programmes designed around where careers are heading
Dunedinsys offers seven structured programmes across three broad disciplines: Technology, Business, and Creative Practice. Each runs over two academic terms — approximately 32 weeks of contact learning — and concludes with a capstone project assessed by both internal faculty and an external industry reviewer. This dual-assessment model ensures that what you produce at graduation reflects genuine professional standards, not just institutional criteria. All programmes operate on the cohort model described throughout this site, meaning you will enter with a defined group and complete alongside the same people, building the kind of collegial relationships that professional life rewards.

Technology
Three programmes: Software Development Fundamentals, Data & Analytics, and Cybersecurity Foundations. Each runs 32 weeks and includes a minimum of 80 hours of applied lab work on the indigo-tech-equipped campus floor, with real codebases reviewed by practicing engineers.
Business
Two programmes: Business Analysis and Digital Marketing Strategy. Both programmes integrate live client briefs sourced from Hamilton businesses, giving students genuine consulting experience before they graduate. Cohort sizes are capped at 18 for these disciplines.
Creative Practice
Two programmes: UX & Interface Design and Content Strategy. Students work in the studio spaces on Victoria Street where natural light and high-resolution display stations support the design-critical work required at every stage of these programmes.
The Software Development programme was the most demanding thing I have done, and also the most worthwhile. The capstone project brief came from a real Hamilton tech firm, and I was offered a junior role there three weeks after submitting. The cohort model kept me accountable on days when I would have otherwise fallen behind.

Frequently asked questions about programmes
Can I study part-time?
All seven programmes are offered in full-time mode only. The cohort model and the volume of applied project work mean that part-time enrolment would compromise the peer-learning dynamic that produces the outcomes our graduates report. We recommend speaking with our admissions team if scheduling is a concern.
Are programmes recognised by New Zealand employers?
All Dunedinsys programmes are mapped against current New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF) competency standards. Our annual employer survey, conducted independently, shows that 93 percent of hiring managers who have employed a Dunedinsys graduate would hire from us again.
What equipment do students need to bring?
Students are required to bring a laptop meeting our published minimum specification (available on the admissions page). All specialist software licences, cloud compute credits, and studio hardware are provided by Dunedinsys for the duration of the programme. There are no hidden technology fees.
Is there an intake in mid-year?
Currently Dunedinsys runs one intake per year, commencing in February. A July intake is under development and is expected to be available from 2027. Students who wish to be notified when the mid-year intake opens are encouraged to register their interest via the contact form.
